Experience
A career connecting structural engineering and civil estimation
My experience combines technical design depth, BIM coordination and commercial tendering. Detailed responsibilities are grouped below to keep the page concise and readable.
14 January 2025–Present
Nesma Infrastructure & Technology — Senior Civil Estimation Engineer
Based in the Egypt office, I support civil estimation and tendering for energy, infrastructure, industrial and building projects.
Tender analysis and quantities
- Review tender drawings, specifications and client requirements.
- Identify and organise civil and architectural scope.
- Prepare detailed civil BOQs and quantity takeoffs.
- Use Revit models and schedules to extract or validate quantities.
Commercial evaluation and bid support
- Prepare civil cost estimates for tenders.
- Review and normalise subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Identify missing scope, exclusions, ambiguities and commercial risk.
- Prepare technical clarifications, assumptions and tender queries.
- Support bid and negotiation teams with clear civil cost breakdowns.
Design, coordination and value engineering
- Review civil and structural designs from estimation and buildability perspectives.
- Coordinate civil, structural, architectural, electrical and mechanical tender requirements.
- Support value-engineering exercises and consistent subcontractor scopes of work.
Sector exposure: substations, high-voltage infrastructure, underground cable systems, overhead transmission lines, solar PV, utilities, roads, external works, industrial projects, buildings and heavy-equipment foundations.
June 2021–Late 2024
Consolidated Contractors Company — Structural Design and BIM Engineer
I designed and reviewed reinforced-concrete and steel structures, coordinated BIM and construction deliverables, and supported international energy, industrial, hospitality, commercial, aviation and infrastructure projects.
Core responsibilities
- Designed reinforced-concrete elements and reviewed steel structures.
- Applied ACI 318, EN 1992-1-1, ECP 203 and SBC 304.
- Conducted structural assessments, optimisation and blast-design work using time-history analysis.
- Verified Revit models against calculations and 2D drawings.
- Produced and reviewed IFC drawings and shop drawings.
- Coordinated multidisciplinary interfaces and constructability issues.
Verified achievements
- Reduced design and calculation time by approximately 20% through improved spreadsheets and automated workflows.
- Helped identify structural inefficiencies early, contributing to an estimated 25% reduction in rework.
- Supported multiple major international projects through design, coordination and construction deliverables.
